Clapton
Clapton, Illuminatia
Clapton is a city of significant economic importance located on Illuminatia's southwestern coast. As the dominant hub for trade activity for the region southwest of RV Ridge, Clapton asserts its preeminence in southwestern Illuminatian culture and media. Clapton is the primary port and trade hub along the southwestern coast between Requiem and Symphony.
Clapton benefits from the geography of two different rivers that both empty into the southwestern sea in the vicinity of the city—the River Lester and the River Timothy. Clapton's city center is positioned adjacent to the mouth of the River Lester which flows through the city. Adjacent to the eastern exburban region of Clapton is the mouth of the River Timothy. This puts the city at an advantageous place at the terminus of two river systems, augmenting transportation and trade.
Prominent industries in Clapton include engineering, electronics, and energy. Clapton benefits from superfluous availability of solar energy, making it a sizeable energy producer. Wandering Mind University is the largest institution of higher education based in Clapton. The Bank of Clapton is a leading provider of financial services in the city. The city's most-read newspaper is the Tertiary Source. The region is represented in the National Sportsball League by the Clapton Fuckwits.
As of the 250 AI Census, Clapton had a population of 425,974 residents, making it the Illuminatia's 30th-largest city. Clapton has experienced significant growth since then and it is estimated the city will have a population over 800,000 by the 300 AI Census, an increase of nearly 200% over 50 AU.
Clapton is a primary settlement city, settled by members of the Second Multiversal Duplication of the Lucidus II ship. Lucidus survivors landed at the mouth of the bay upon which Clapton is now located and quickly migrated to the innermost extent of the bay to seek shelter from the action of oceanic waters on the outer coast as well as the shelter of more abundant shade-providing vegetation.
Clapton was named in honor of an Earthly popular acoustic musician of the modern-ancient era.
