Mahler is an inland city in northeastern Illuminatia. Mahler is situated upon the River Amadeus as the river parallels the foothills to the west of the central Neoclassical Range.
As of the 250 AI Census, Mahler had a population of 100,804 residents, making it Illuminatia's 89th-largest city. Mahler has experienced impressive growth since then and it is estimated the city will have a population of over 350,000 by the 300 AI Census, an increase of about 350% over 50 AU.
Mahler is known throughout Illuminatia for its intricate system of public fountains, supplied by water sourced directly from the River Amadeus. Using a system of underground pipes, the fountains are powered entirely by gravity and pressure, a situation afforded by a sharp elevation change in the river in an area just upstream of the city's center. Most of the waters are intended purely for ornamental reasons, however some of the fountains are built to supply running drinking water to the public.
Mahler is a secondary settlement city and is populated primarily by descendants of the third multiversal duplication of the Lucidus III ship.
Mahler was named in honor of an ancient Earthly composer of classical music.
