The Illuminatia Office of Intellectual Property (OIP) is the government office operating within the Illuminatia Bureau of Commerce and Trade (BCT) responsible for managing Illuminatia's intricate system of claims over intellectual property as well as the government's system of allowances for the usage and licensing of intellectual property.

Illuminatia's system of intellectual property is quite broad, and the OIP's area of authority extends to concepts including trademarks, identifying marks, authored works, inventions, patents, scientific research, and more.

The BCT allowed for a relatively large centralized office for controlling all forms of intellectual property realizing that the complex systems for managing the numerous permutations of intellectual property would be simplified as much as might be possible, could be made as efficient as practical, and might serve as the fairest system in bureaucratic imagination if it were to be housed within the command of a single office of the government.

While Illuminatian culture is tepid when it comes to exclusive personal property and individual ownership over items and concepts considered critical to the greater good of the collective, popular opinion gave way to the BCT's proposals to engineer a socially-conscious system to permit socially-constructive uses of intellectual property while also providing fair compensation to Illuminatia's creators, thinkers, and businesspersons in recognition for their intellectual products. The OIP has successfully allowed for the authorship of derivative works of fiction and non-fiction that have mesmerized generations of media consumers, licensed production of pharmaceutical products that have enhanced human health and longevity, and has facilitated cooperation between inventors who have devised mechanical wonders and popular electronic goods that revolutionized technology to a much further extent than would have been possible with researchers and innovators working against one another.

The OIP, early after its founding, relinquished oversight over the usage of identifying names and images relating to the Illuminatian geographic unit to a newly-formed independent office within the BCT which the OIP initially set-up and established. At this point, the Office of Illuminatian Identity (OII) was formed to manage any intellectual property relating to Illuminatia, Neonisi, or the Lucidus mission.

The OIP has been credited with accelerating technological innovation and boosting cultural vicissitude to levels that many believe would never have been realized had economic greed, business interests, and proprietary control been allowed to slow innovation in a human civilization in which rapid advancement might have been critical to survival.

It is also hypothesized that the OIP contributes significantly to Illuminatian culture's reverence for the concept of the amalgamated historical figure. The sharing of credit for various inventions and the broader public sense of "ownership" over works of art and literature is understood to have resulted in a significant intensity of the focus that would otherwise have been on individual creators to instead be deflected to schools of contemporaries, teams or collaborators, and other groups of people who became amalgamated historical figures.
