Classical Peninsula

Location of the Classical Peninsula in eastern Illuminatia

Points of interest: Mussorgsky, Bald Mountain, Figaro

The Classical Peninsula is the northernmost of the four major peninsulas forming the irregular shape of the Illuminatian continent's eastern coast. Sometimes referred to as the "first peninsula" due to its furthest-north position, the Classical Peninsula is the least populated of the four peninsulas.

The Classical Peninsula is bounded to the west by Wolfgang Amadeus Bay, to the south by the Greater Amadeus Bay, and to the east by the Periterranean Sea. To the north where the peninsula is attached to the Illuminatian continent, the continent's popularly-accepted border is marked by the Neoclassical Range. An extension of the mountain range extends runs from west to east across the north of the Classical Peninsula, while another extension of the Neoclassical Range spreads along the peninsula's eastern coast, forming dramatic coastal landscapes with tall cliffs and deep fjords where the peninsula meets the eastern ocean.

The Classical Peninsula is home to a sparse selection of significant population centers. The peninsula's largest city, Mussorgsky, sits along the southern edge of the Classical Peninsula in a lowland where a river valley drains into the Greater Amadeus Bay. This isolated river valley in occupies the center of the peninsula, extending northward and bounded by the mountains of the Neoclassical Range to its west and east.

The city of Bald Mountain is nested among the high hills of the southern Neoclassical Range in the southeast corner of the Classical Peninsula. Figaro is located on the peninsula's western coast ashore Wolfgang Amadeus Bay and is among the cities on this coast forming part of the Wolfgang Amadeus Megalopolitan Complex.

Woods and forests dominate the Classical Peninsula. The climate is cold and snowy in the colder half of the Annual Unit and is moderate and dry in the warmer seasons.

The Classical Peninsula was settled by descendants of the third multiversal duplication of the Lucidus III ship. The peninsula is currently home to significant populations of native speakers of the Demilucidian language.
